What is heritage tourism? Who are heritage tourists and how can your museum reach them? This discussion will focus on these questions, why they should be central to your museum’s mission and outreach efforts, and why they are more important than ever in the wake of COVID-19.

Sarah Page will explore ways to collaborate locally and regionally to improve the visitor experience at your museum and in your community as a whole. She’ll also discuss the importance of interpretation and how to make your museum stand out as a heritage tourism destination. Sarah Page is the Heritage Tourism Program Coordinator for the Texas Historical Commission, where she oversees the award-winning Texas Heritage Trails Program. She has worked in tourism and economic development for over 28 years. She previously held leadership roles in the heritage tourism outreach industry at the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus, the Lower Colorado River Authority, and the Texas State Tourism Office. Sarah got her start in 1990 with a degree in Tourism from Texas A&M University. She is very active in tourism and economic development efforts and has served on several state and local boards and commissions.
