On Wednesday, May 23rd, Astrocat showed off their style on Rocket Shop. With Buck on bass, Trevor on guitar, and Vitaly on the drums, the trio shared their personalized goth-rock howl. Some have described their sound as “disco grunge,” while the band uses terms like “country-reggae-thing with a little punk in there.” In short, these three musketeers rock hard. They are the kind of band to end a radio show with an honest, “We love you Burlington!”

Surprisingly, this electric group began jamming in the background of art galleries. Unsurprisingly, these gigs didn’t really suit them. Tailored suits and art-shop elegance were traded in for paisley and primal instincts, and the group started exploring the Burlington scene. With seven years of experience in the 802 area, the group has a few comments: “louder music isn’t as around as it used to be,” and people are not coming to live shows as much. But that doesn’t matter, because, as drummer Vitaly put it, if people stop coming to shows, then “We’ll bring the show to the house!” Just watch out for heating vents, as apparently basement ceilings can be a little low.

Although the group has nothing published yet, they have recorded at least twelve albums’ worth of music in their home studio, and are just waiting to overcome their OCD before they start releasing anything. That said, they do have one album in the works. Tentatively titled, Alive in a Tiny Town, this album may finally let these cats out of their bag. Keep your eyes on theirfacebook page for updates on a potential release date, as well as upcoming shows.

See them live June 1 at Higher Ground
