The local Chittenden County zone of the Vermont Creative Network brings arts and culture community together with monthly mixer-workshops!
Creatives in Chittenden County know that we all benefit from the strength of community bonds. Even during the current public health crisis we can advance our work and strengthen our social and professional connections at the same time.
“Creatives’ — anyone whose work includes expressive originality, culture or the arts — are welcomed to virtually attend the new series of monthly meetups to learn from each other, keep the channels open, offer support and collaboration, and help shape the future of our creative zone. The Chittenden Zone of the VCN welcomes all creatives to drop into the casual virtual socials and peer-to-peer workshops every month on Zoom.
James Lockridge, co-host of the series and Executive Director of Big Heavy World, said, “We all deserve a little social convening — with conversation that joyfully highlights our humanity and presentations that give us a leg-up as we aid each other in facing a changing world. We’re in this together and our local creatives are the go-to crowd for affirming that.”
The first event of the series is Thursday, August 13, 6pm. Join the meeting at this link, https://bit.ly/vcnaugust. We’ll make new friends, converse and catch up with each other starting at 6pm, then at 6:30pm turn to presenter Amy Cunningham, Deputy Director of the Vermont Arts Council. Amy will bring the Vermont Creative Network into the conversation, describing the collaborative efforts of creatives across the state.
Co-host Mariah Riggs, Director of the Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center, said, “This series is about reaching out and engaging with other creative members of our community with an affirming and empowering approach. Now is the time to facilitate a creative community discussion driven by a collaborative conversation about where we are, what we need to do to move forward, and what that looks like for Chittenden County.”
The Chittenden County Zone channels regional wisdom into the Vermont Creative Network and its statewide work to advance the state’s arts and culture industries. The zone is one of six, stewarded by the Vermont Arts Council and helping policy-makers understand the needs and opportunities of Vermont’s creative sector. Information at vermontcreativenetwork.org.
