"Should my organization have a Friends Group?" "How do I start a Friends Group?" "What are the benefits and challenges, and how do I avoid common pitfalls?" This webinar will focus on Friends Groups and nonprofits that support museums, parks, or cultural organizations that are publicly owned. Angela Reed will discuss how to build a strong partnership framework and why that framework is important to both the Friends Group and the organization they support. This webinar will interest board members of nonprofits as well as staff who work with their Friends Group or supporting nonprofit, and for anyone considering forming a Friends Group.

Angela Reed is the Community Partnerships Coordinator for the THC’s Historic Sites Division. In her career of almost 20 years working in both the nonprofit and public sectors, Angela has also served as a historian for Texas Parks and Wildlife, program director and interim executive director for Preservation Austin, and development manager for the historic Paramount Theatre. Angela holds a Master’s in Humanities and Public History from New York University, a Bachelor’s in Sociology from St. Edward’s University, and is certified in Training, Consulting, and Facilitation from Marlboro College.
