After the first-ever Asia-based Music Cities Convention was held in Chengdu, China in April of 2019, the event has come back to the continent for its ninth annual installation, which is taking place in the up-and-coming music city of Seoul, South Korea. The Seoul Music Cities Convention will take place virtually on November 11 and 12, 2020, and will be a series of live panel discussions and presentations featuring over 300 delegates from around the world. These policymakers, music industry professionals, academics, and city leaders from around the world will begin the international conversation on building vibrant music cities across the globe, combining city planning, development, and the music industry into one plan.

Seoul, South Korea is the largest city and capital of South Korea. The city’s music scene has been developing in recent years with the rise of K-Pop and globalization of music, and they are seeking to establish themselves as a major global music city.

Professor Dong-Yeun Lee of Korea National University of Arts  says, “We can’t wait to virtually welcome international delegates to share their wonderful experiences and knowledge of music cities through presentation and panel discussions.” They are also excited to showcase six Korean bands during this event in addition to the presentations and panels.

This event is hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Music Cities Events, and Sound Diplomacy. It will be live-streamed in both English and Korean, and you can register for tickets, find out more details, and view the full speaker list on the Seoul Music Cities Convention website
