Supporting a Righteous Cause
Are you a person who enjoys good local art, space, romance, aliens, and everything in between? The Ballad of Ethan Alien, a film created by Nick Charyk of Western Terrestrials and Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show, explores these themes while delivering a message of progressive ideology and anti-facism.
The Ballad of Ethan Alien was produced completely locally and features music from Vermont artists, including those behind the song that struck the initial inspiration to create the interstellar film, Western Terrestrials. Through the use of local sound, lighting and production crews, this film project has provided an abundance of support to Vermont artists in a world impacted by COVID-19.
Filming of the movie wrapped in October and a rough cut was initially shown at Fairlee Drive-in. Due to inclement weather, it subsequently aired as a live-stream show. The showing was a great success according to Charyk, “The reception has been amazing. The film delivered what I hoped it would, a love letter to this state’s eccentric, creative and revolutionary spirit with a strong message of anti-facism. But the project isn’t finished.” This diamond in the rough still needs to go through the editing process to be released in its final form this spring. “Actors, crew and musicians have put so much work into this project and we want to deliver the final project they all deserve.”
To complete this project, the crew must meet its Kickstarter goal of $10,000. If the goal is not met, all funds raised thus far will be lost. As of right now, $6,644 has been amassed. There is very limited time to reach this goal and Charyk, Secor, and all of the talented, hard working crew of The Ballad of Ethan Alien calls upon you to help raise the remaining $3,356 needed to finalize this project and bring it to its full potential. If you would like to aid in the effort to reach this goal, you can visit this site: Kickstarter. The crew thanks you for your support and kindness and reminds you that this project would not be possible without you.
