"Outermost Radio: The Film" Showing at Big Heavy World
Join us at Big Heavy World for our free showing of Outermost Radio: The Film, on Community Media Day, October 20th. Starting at 4pm, the matinee will connect the Radiator in Burlington to our sister station, WOMR “Outermost Radio,” located in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Written and directed by Alan Chebot, the film showcases the unique identity of WOMR, or W-Outermost Radio. The name “Outermost” comes from the radio’s location at the outermost tip of Cape Cod. Yet, the station also gets its name from the town’s rich individuality, whose residents the film considers to be the “outermost” type of people. The town is known for its accepting attitude towards people of differing identities and walks of life, which in turn fuels the desire for such an eccentric station. The documentary interviews the station’s vivid DJs like Lady Di or Chuck Cole who reciprocate to listeners the sort of free-spirited identity seen in town.
The showing is free of charge, so stop by and tour your local community radio station, WOMM-LP 105.9FM The Radiator, meet the volunteer Big Heavy World crew that runs it, and learn the story of our sister-station, Outermost Radio.
Big Heavy World is located at at 4 Howard Street in Burlington and is wheelchair accessible via the rear loading dock. For more information call (802) 865-1140. Bring a seat pillow for maximum living room-style comfort!
