intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. Let’s begin tonight with the title song from one of Burlington’s coolest artists. He’s moved away, but still comes back to play now and then.
1.) My Hero, The Enemy – Gregory Douglass 2.) As Glass – Wren Kitz 3.) Soul Piggy Bank – Swale 4.) This Land Is Your Land – VT Artists
It’s so cool that so many local artists got together to record this song as a boost to the candidacy of Bernie Sanders. It features Kat Wright, Bob Wagner, Marie Claire Johnson, and lots of others. Swale played a great show at Light Club Lamp Shop last Saturday and did a great version of that one. That’s a new song from Wren’s just released album For Evelyn. Great song from Gregory. I just ran into Abbie Gail since she just finished a US tour and arrived back in Burlington. Her band, Abbie Morin, will be at Nectar’s on Saturday. Here’s a live song from the road.
5.) Barstools – Abbie Morin 6.) Barstool Blues – Seth Yacavone Band 7.) The Call – Swillbillie 8.) Constant Disaster (live) – When Particles Collide
That’s a live version from Particles new album Live At The Sinclair. Great stuff from the rocking duo who will be on the road soon. Great song from a local band I have not yet caught. Seth did such a great job with the Neil Young songs at the WBKM birthday party last year. It’s cool to have a recording of that. Great song from Abbie. It’s time for the next song on Red Flannel Hash. I held off playing the album so I could start it so that this song would be appropriate. It’s chilly tonight, was 55 on Tuesday, was -13 (or so) on Saturday. It will be in the 40’s for the weekend. Well, for tonight this song is mostly true.
9.) It’s Cold – Black Rabbit 10.) Still Life Scene – Envy 11.) Ornan’s Song – Dirty Blondes 12.) Endless Parts 1 & 2 – Elephants Of Scotland
What great versions of those Elephants songs. Those are from the live at Gettysburg album. The whole band is great, but how about the drumming and chime playing from Ornan McLean? Ornan is going through a tough time sine he lost his mother a couple of days ago and today is his birthday. I had to play a chunk of Elephants for him and had to play the song about him from one of his other bands. Best of luck and heal as soon as you can Ornan! Sean and Ann Mindell from Envy will be at Radio Bean next Wednesday in their new band The Nancy Druids. Great song from Rabbit. Last week I missed the Mountain Says No at the Monkey House, but just because I slacked, doesn’t mean you have to miss them.
13.) JC And The Beast – The Mountain Says No 14.) Teenage Mother Earth – The Red Telephone 15.) Ninjas VS Zombies – Phil Yates 16.) The Crisis – Ninja Custodian
Killer song from Ninja. Great song from Phil from before he became affiliated. Great songs from Telephone and Mountain. This next song is about a crisis in America that necessitates the phrase Black Lives Matter.
17.) Blind Pigs – Rough Francis 18.) The Eldridge – Cameo Harlot 19.) Captain 20 – Barbacoa 20.) The Territory – Hana Zara
Great song from Hana’s 2015 album The North. Cool rocker from Barbacoa. Cameo were a great band that featured Paul Comegno on guitar and vocals. Now he is just playing guitar with Rough Francis. OK, let’s take the energy down a bit with a cool song.
21.) The Alchemist – Pours 22.) All Your Basis – Invisible Homes 23.) Kids – Wren Kitz 24.) Doris – Wren Kitz
Those last two are the closing songs and pieces of effects from Wren’s new album For Evelyn. Cool new song from Homes. Now, how will Sean Witters pull that one off live? Fun song from Pours. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
