intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. One of the legendary Burlington musicians from the ’90’s released a new ep this week. She is celebrating with a release party tonight in California. This is the title song.
1.) Cowboy Summer – Alice Austin 2.) Endless War – Jeremy Gilchrist 3.) Snow In The Controls – Dom The Barber 4.) All The Same To You – Milton Busker
Great song from Milton. I’ve been waiting until it was snowy out to play the Dommer Barber song. It isn’t really snowy out, but is in late January. I have played the Jeremy song before but that was a demo and this is the brand new studio version. Great stuff from Alice, as always. This next band played a fantastic version of this song last week at Signal Kitchen.
5.) Golden Crutch – Swale 6.) Son, You Are No Island – Torres 7.) Year Of The Snake – Tyler Daniel Bean 8.) Jack Sharp – Swale
Swale played a rocking version of that one too. Tyler played that song solo acoustic, but it had a lot of fire, and the version I just played is the full band version. Pretty cool song. Island was the song that stood out the most at the Torres show, though I really liked it all. I love the slow build and heavy surge at the end. I though it would be fun to bookend that set with Swale. OK, here is the next song on Red Flannel Hash
9.) Alienation – Black Rabbit 10.) Throw Me Away – Spill 11.) Nowhere Feels Like Home – Fire The Cannons 12.) Las Vegas – Ninja Custodian
Classic rocker from Ninja. FTC rocked us for a few years in the early 2000’s and put on some pretty intense shows. Spill are another great ’90’s band and that song always grabbed me. I just love that Rabbit song!! There is a cool show happening tomorrow at Twofourtwo Main with these next three bands.
13.) Last Song – Carraway 14.) No Way – Phantom Suns 15.) Nothing Important – Doom Service
Doom have a new album called Live At Mount Doom, so I got that one from that album. Great songs from Phantom and Carraway. I really have to make it to 242 Main tomorrow. OK, let’s keep rocking.
16.) Ladders – Heavy Plains 17.) Great Scott – Wave Of The Future 18.) Too Drunk – The Dirty Blondes 19.) Hello World – Screaming Skull 20.) On A Sunday – Screaming Broccoli
Killer song from the late ’80’s early ’90’s band. That Skull song is so cool. It’s a short intro followed by a shorter burst of intense rock. I just heard that the Blondes are playing at the Bowie tribute thing at Higher Ground tonight and I’m bummed I missed them. That is such a fun song from Wave. Great rocker from Plains. OK, let’s keep rocking.
21.) Little French Earthquakes – Phil Yates and the Affiliates 22.) Not True – Peg Tassey 23.) Blue Light Shines – Gabrielle Douglas and The Dwellers 24.) Plastic Revolution
I keep singing that song “Revolution, Bern style now.” Great rocker from Gabby. Great rocker from Peg. Earthquakes had me bouncing around the studio, but of course, the other songs had me doing that too. OK, let’s keep rocking.
25.) Something I Drew – Farm 26.) Gas And Oil – Gas And Oil 27.) Weapons Factory – The Wards with the Dirty Blondes 28.) Purpose and Object – The Contrarian
I love that song from Casey Merlin Rae. Classic from the ’80’s punk band. That was a re-recorded version with a bit of help from Diane Sullivan on vocals. Great song from Beano’s solo band. Hmmm, Farm. I liked the Torres show so much, I want to toss in another song. This is the title song from the new album.
29.) Sprinter – Torres 30.) The Summer Of Andy – The Cancer Conspiracy
I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
