I just got back from my local music radio show on internet only Wbkm Dot Org. I highlighted some of the music that was played last week, some of the music that happened tonight and some of the many bands who are playing at different venues on Saturday. I also said goodbye to Lendway in a big way.

Song before: Aura – The Church Band

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds of Burlington. There was a lot of great music at Radio Bean last night, and there are a lot of great shows coming up. But, tonight I want to say goodbye to one of my favorite bands, Lendway. Michael Clifford is heading to California, but they did play a killer goodbye show at Nectar’s on Saturday. They were great, and rocked really hard, and had great harmonies, and I will miss them. It’s the end of the band, but ends always bring new beginnings. This is a beginning, always a beginning. This is Yardsale by Lendway on WBKM and this is Burlington’s Kind of Music.

1.) Yardsale – Lendway 2.) What’s In California? – Joshua Glass Music 3.) Showdown At The Blue Moon Hotel – Jerichovox 4.) The Way It Is – Maryse Smith

I was hoping Maryse was going to play live in the studio tonight. Unfortunately, something came up and she was not able to make it. Hopefully she will stop by sometime soon. She will play at Radio Bean on Saturday at 9. Unfortunately, I already got tickets for Barbacoa and Rough Francis that night, so will miss that, and all the other shows on Saturday. I went out to the Bean last night and finally saw Jerichovox. I had a really good time and they played a solid version of Hotel. I had to put in the Josh song after the Lendway song. That’s not a jab, it’s just the way it is. OK, on to the next song on Swale’s album The Next Instead.

5.) Before The Night – Swale 6.) I’m Thrilled – Phil Yates & The Affiliates 7.) Two Sleepy Arms – Lendway

I love that song. Phil is releasing his new album No Need To Beg on Saturday at New City Gallery on Church st. It’s happening the same time as the Higher GroundRough Francis show. Rats. Black Rabbit are playing that show too, acoustic. Really?? Phil’s album came out Tuesday but the party is Saturday. Great Swale song. OK, let’s rock.

8.) Venus In Spurs – Barbacoa 9.) Not A Nice Guy – ROUGH FRANCIS 10.) Asphyxia – Better Things 11.) Definitions – As We Were

After Jerichovox played last night, Better Things came on and rocked hard and As We Were followed and really let loose. Despite everything I will miss on Saturday, I’m very excited to see Francis and Barbacoa! My brother is coming along. Black Rabbit acoustic? Really? They always rock hard. Here they are rocking hard.

12.) Mark My Words – Black Rabbit 13.) Terrarium – Vedora 14.) You’re Safe With Us – Lendway

I love that song. Vedora are playing Radio Bean on Saturday after Maryse. I really need to be 3 people that night. Come on Dan Bolles, haven’t you cloned me yet? I could really use it for Saturday! So, tonight Joe Adler, Aaron Flinn, Michael Chorney, and Eric George are playing songs and telling stories at the Skinny Pancake. Here’s one of Joe’s songs.

15.) Brothers And Sisters – Joe Adler 16.) Sunflower Street – David L. Jarvis 17.) Gone With Eraser – Lendway

Another great song. Great song from Dave. I’m sure the show at the Pancake is lots of fun. Here’s a song from Aaron.

18.) Giving Up The Ghost – Aaron Flinn 19.) Ghost Train – Jerichovox 20.) Killing Ghosts – Better Things.

Things played a wicked fast version of that last night at the Bean. Jericho played a great version of train last night. Hey, did you notice I didn’t play any Lendway in that last set?

21.) Take Your Gold Away – Lendway 22.) Gold In California – The Red Telephone 23.) Running Away From Home – The Snaz

I think the Snaz are the only band I’m playing tonight that I have not seen. I should fix that. Last week I played a new demo from the New Siberians and really liked it. Tonight, I will play one from their first album.

24.) Star – The New Siberians 25.) Hollywood – Lendway 26.) Teenage Mother Earth – The Red Telephone

This is a beginning, always a beginning, and the end always equals the start. Thanks for all the great music Michael, Matthew Bryan HagenTodd GevryKevin Lynam. California’s gain, is Vermont’s loss. Come back anytime Michael. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
