Radio Show 105 Thursday April 9, 2015 9-11PM Eastern US Time WBKM.ORG
Words by Tim Lewis.
I just got back from tonight’s local music radio show on internet only Wbkm Dot Org. It had a mellow yet kind of intense feel, and rocked hard in the late middle.

intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds of Burlington. It’s been a grey day, and I’m going to start out with some mellow songs. This first singer is playing out Saturday at Nectar’s with his band Waylon Speed. Lendway are opening and it might be their last show. This is Horseshoes and Hand Grenades by Kelly Ravin on WBKM and this is Burlington’s kind of music.
1.) Horseshoes and Hand Grenades – Kelly Ravin 2.) Chickadee da – Ryan Ober 3.) Better Half – Abbie Morin 4.) In Waves – Sarah Blacker 5.) The Territory – Hana Zara
That’s another great song from Hana’s new album The North. That’s a brand new song from Sarah, who is from the Boston area, but plays VT on a semi-regular basis. Abbie is playing Radio Bean tonight. Ryan is too but at the same time that I’m doing this show. OK, on to the next song on the Swale album that I am working my way through, song for song, week after week.
6.) You Are Not The Photograph – Swale 7.) Right Between The Eyes – Dirtminers 8.) Ghost Train – Jerichovox 9.) Try And Try And Try – The Snaz
The Snaz just represented VT at SWSX. Jericho are playing Radio Bean next Wednesday and I really want to catch them. Cool song from the American Typewriter album. Happy Birthday Joshua Glass and Happy Birthday Ted Pappadopoulos. Thanks Ted for sending me an early mix of a new New Siberians song!!
10.) So They Say – The New Siberians 11.) Megaphone – Joshua Glass Music 12.) Weight In Gold – Joshua Panda 13.) Shiny Side Up – Nother Mother Brothers
I’m just getting to know Shiny and wanted to play it again. I should have been playing Panda’s music for a while but am glad I’m starting tonight. Great song from Josh and I can’t wait for the new Siberians after that song! Here’s another classic VT band I have not played yet.
14.) You’re The One – Viperhouse 15.) All About You – Kat Wright & The Indomitable Soul Band 16.) WalkingInCircles – RAQ
That song always makes me want to bounce around. Great song by the majestic Kat and her killer band. The Viper song was from the live at Ottawa album A couple of weeks ago I saw this singer open for Hana Zara and this song really caught me.
17.) Clocks On The Wall – Jeremy Gilchrist 18.) Ball And Chain – Band X 19.) Your Downtown Aperture – Video Pigeon 20.) The Crisis – Ninja Custodian
Killer song from Ninja’s second full album Shepherd’s Pie. Pigeon rocked our town for a couple of years and left us songs like that. Killer song from Ornan McLean‘s old band. Let’s keep rocking.
21.) Hammerhead – Barbacoa 22.) Escape Artist – Zola Turn 23.) Devastation Celebration – And The Kids 24.) Hands All Over You – Peg Tassey MUSIC
Killer song from Peg. ATK just played in Montreal so Megan could play with them. Great song from the first Zola album when Jenn Karson was still in the band. She’s still doing cool things with sound at the Fleming Museum. When Jeremy opened for Hana one of his new songs really caught me too. He sent me a copy of it today.
25.) The Endless War – Jeremy Gilchrist – Singer-Songwriter 26.) Science Fiction – Hana Zara 27.) Fubar – Kelly Ravin.
I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
