intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. Last week it felt like Spring might be settling in, but this week, Winter has not given up yet. I saw Orion in the sky on the walk down. This first song is a song about the Old North End of Burlington. This is a song about this the cold. This is a song called The North by Hana Zara, and this is Burlington’s Kind Of Music on WBKM.

1.) The North – Hana Zara 2.) Ordinary Day – Milton Busker 3.) The Way It Is – Maryse Smith 4.) Left One In The Rain – Alice Austin 5.) I Will Stand By You – Aaron Flinn

Great song by Aaron. I think he is playing Juniper tomorrow at 9. Alice is playing tonight in LA. Great new song from Maryse. Milton is playing Radio Bean tomorrow. There;s lots of music around tomorrow. Hana will be back in town on Sunday night to play at Radio Bean at 8. Jeremy Gilchrist – Singer-Songwriter is playing at 7, and is right here in the studio to play a few songs. Hi Jeremy. We chat a bit and he plays:

6.) Thunder From Mansfield To The Lake – Jeremy Gilchrist 7.) Letter From The 21st – Jeremy Gilchrist 8.) Great Filter – Jeremy Gilchrist

Thanks Jeremy! OK, now let’s go to the next song on The Next Instead.

9.) Joyless – Swale 10.) Devastation Celebration – And The Kids 11.) Lying In The Wind – The Cush

I still have such vivid memories of the shows The Cush played when they first arrived in Burlington with their first album in tow. Great song! ATK have a video for Devastation that is pretty fun. Hmmm, Swale, hmmmmm. Up next I want to revisit some songs I played a couple of times but have not for a while.

12.) Not Everything Is About You – Super Music Band 13.) Say Something – Silent Mind 14.) Give Me All Your Love – Madaila 15.) Ships – Anais Mitchell

Those were all fun songs. Madaila are playing Friday at City Hall to release their new album. OK, let’s play some scary songs, just for fun.

16.) Raising The Dead – Carraway 17.) Ninjas VS Zombies – Phil Yates 18.) Day Of The Dead – Hana Zara

Another great new song from Hana’s album The North, which just came out. Great songs by Phil and Carraway. I made it out Monday night to see Everybody’s Favorite Irish Drinking Songs Band. Thanks to Buck, and Matt Thorsen and Patrick Longley, and Matthew Stephen Perry for giving us a great excuse to sing Irish songs. Thanks also to Dirty Blondes frontwomen Rebecca Rogers and Diane Sullivan.

19.) Oh Dirty Blondes – Dirty Blondes 20.) A Bottle Of Whiskey Later – Crazyhearse 21.) Glory Glory – And The Kids 22.) MSP2 – ROUGH FRANCIS

Great new song from Francis. The new album is going to be great. I had to play Glory after Whiskey, and Becky sings with Crazy on that one. OK, let’s keep rocking.

23.) This Machine – Invisible Homes 24.) Lines And Spaces (live) – The Cancer Conspiracy 25.) Starboard (live) – Elephants of Scotland

Killer song from Elephants who will be playing some shows soon. Classic ’90’s Burlington with CC. Nice Woody Guthrie nod from Homes. Let’s play another from Jerichobox’s new album.

26.) Azure Beyond – Jerichovox 27.) Megan’s Song – Hana Zara

I love the unbridled love in that song. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
