Western Terrestials - The Underground Listening Group - Randolph

Conjuring up sweeping panoramas of dusty astral plains and the allure of whiskey-laden honkytonks, Western Terrestrials are the kind of wry, unconventional outsiders country music could get used to. In their latest release, Back in the Saddle of a Fever Dream, the Vermont-based group accomplishes a tricky feat: threading the needle between paying homage to classic country, and forging their own brand of unapologetic, hard-driving cosmic American music.

Bow’s music is always evolving and unpredictable. After recording his classic Americana album, Spend it All, with Levon Helm on drums, Bow forged a daring music path that has explored folk, prog, blues, world music, improv and psychedelia on his journey to bring backwoods music into the present. His new album, The Book of Moss, was born from an acoustic weekly gig that Bow played with his bassist, Alex "Al" Abraham, and they were soon joined by local percussionist, Steve Ferraris. But after recording a demo, everything changed. Al took his own life. Once Bow could listen to what they had from that session, he realized he could finish the album. But it was not an easy album to make. Unable to use the conventional approach, this album had to be built from Al's upright bass lines. Bow brought on his longtime musical partners, Jeff Berlin, to add drums, and three-time Grammy winning engineer, Justin Guip (Levon Helm), to do his magic.

Hayley Jane is back to tour the Northeast. She was 12 years old when she informed her friends & family that she would prefer to be called exclusively by her first and middle names. It was a tribute to her then new hero, Jane Goodall. “I was just absolutely obsessed with apes and monkeys when I was little, I became really enamored with the relationship between apes & humans.” when it came time to name her former band, Hayley Jane & The Primates, she decided on a moniker that would serve as homage to her former obsession & allow for an evolving group of musicians to support her. The band’s cast of characters has changed over the years since they first gathered around the Berklee Music School in Boston, this is their reunion tour after Haley Jane spent her last couple years at home in Carmel, California pressing her new 1st Solo Album “Late Bloom” released on Vinyl & CD With her deeply soulful pipes, lyrics & diverse Musical styles & theatrics she truly has the “IT” factor !!

The VT Bluegrass Pioneers: an exciting band that unites the talents of some of Vermont’s veteran and best-known bluegrass musicians: brothers “Banjo” Dan and Willy Lindner – co-founders of the prolific and well-traveled Banjo Dan & the Midnite Plowboys, and continued their career as the multi-faceted Sky Blue Boys; and Danny Coane, guitarist and dynamic lead singer formerly with such bands as the Throbulators, the Radio Rangers, and Vermont’s nationally award-winning honky-tonk heroes, the Starline Rhythm Boys. In 2016, these three bluegrass stalwarts teamed up as the aptly named VT Bluegrass Pioneers. Soon they recruited former Plowboy Sam Blagden to join them on bass and tenor harmonies. Still rooted in the hard-driving tradition of first-generation bluegrass, the Pioneers share lead and harmony vocals, and in a unique twist Dan and Danny alternate on banjo and rhythm guitar. Their goal is to find the heart and soul of every song they perform.

Spencer performs his signature Americana folk grooves by live-looping the guitar and violin, to mirror or eclipse the music from his internationally known 26 album catalog. Also a singer-songwriter and fiddler, his original ballads and anthems that are transcended from old time and folk rock sensibilities, filled with spiritual optimism and confessional introspection. His most recent release Ruins & Foundations (Dec –’21) takes his folk chamber music to its most passionate level. Tom Hill of the Valley News once described his instrumental music as ‘somewhere between melancholia and celebration’. As a guitarist, he employs an inimitable cross flat- picking technique that combines the Carter Family's 'church -lick', Mississippi John Hurt’s fluid finger-picking, and Ramblin’Jack Elliott's interpretive style, all of which are played in a variety of tunings and guitars.
