A2VT Premier New Music Video for "Quoor Ingkaat"

Vermont refugee afropop group A2VT released their new video for “Quoor Ingkaat” today! Qoor Ingkaat means “pick it up” in the Maay Maay language of the Somali Bantu people. The video was produced during the pandemic and was made under social distancing restrictions. Yet A2VT still incorporated a host of dancers from around Burlington, Nigeria, and Venezuela! Check it out on Youtube!

In the video, the crew dances around Burlington, stopping by a number of recognizable murals in the Old North End and the waterfront. The song itself features all the dance club fun we’ve come to associate with A2VT. A song that begs you to shake it out. It’s the kind of song that makes it hard to sit still.

During production, the crew never included more than three people. Masks hand crafted by Linda Bassick of Mellow Yellow were worn regularly. All of the dancers from were hired through Fiverr, with the exception of VPAL’s Ben Bergenstein and Jilib’s three kids.

“This was A2VT's first totally in-house video production, from top to bottom,” band producer David Cooper says. “If people like it, maybe we'll do some more.”

If you want to get more A2VT, check out one of their appearances on our Rocket Shop podcast, or their appearance on Rik Palieri’s Songwriter’s Notebook. Their music is available on all streaming platforms. Band member Xclipxe also recently released three songs under the album name Break It Down, available on all streaming platforms.
