Making and Sharing Videos Online: A Digital How-To, For You!
Are you interested in making videos, but not sure where to start? Whether you want to film music videos, live streams, or any other kind of content, Smart Artist Vermont has a (free!) workshop for you. This introductory-level workshop is being conducted via Zoom on October 8, 2020, and aspiring filmographers of all ages and ability levels are welcome. The program will be divided into two back-to-back technical workshops: Production Basics and Where to Host/Stream. One on how to make videos, the other on where to distribute them.
The first workshop, Production Basics begins at 6:00 PM. Featuring Ryan Cohen from Robot Dog Studio, the workshop will center around the universal basics of video production. It will cover cameras, lighting, sound, environment, internet connection, and other logistics of filmography. This workshop is intended to help you master the fundamentals of crafting video content for whatever project you may choose.

Following Production Basics is the second workshop, Where to Host/Stream. This workshop will feature Philip Caycedo from Beyond the Box Media, a local digital marketing company. Starting at 7:30 PM, this workshop will focus on the ins and outs of video distribution for your intended audience. The group will discuss the pros and cons of various streaming platforms, and you will learn strategic skills for marketing your content, including choosing the right platform, maximizing ticket sales, and working while on a shoestring budget.

By the end of these two workshops, you will be able to produce and distribute video content on a local and global scale. Big Heavy World has decided to host and sponsor this event in continuation of our mission to promote and preserve Vermont-made music. By teaching local artists how to craft video content and strategically distribute it, we create resources for the Burlington music community to share. The skills gathered here will benefit musical communities in making their unique sound come to life in visual art and video production.
