The Vermont Symphony Orchestra returns for another season of performances. As they have for the last 85 years, the VSO dedicates itself to traveling to all corners of Vermont, and this year is no different. There are few excuses to miss a VSO concert, and travel isn’t one of them.

The VSO’s upcoming Made in Vermont tour will take the group across the state from Brattleboro to Derby Line, with more stops along the way. The VSO commits itself to serving all of Vermont, whether this means playing pinnacle venues like Burlington’s Flynn Center, or playing a birthday party in a barn in Barnard.

But the VSO isn’t just a rambling caravan of musicians pulled from the side of the road. The VSO has a long history of playing at important venues like the World’s Fair, and hosting well known musicians. This year’s lineup features VSO legends, well-known guests, and talented prodigies who’ve earned comparisons to Yo-Yo Ma.

Check out the VSO’s full events page for a detailed list, but a few important events to look out for are Taste Test (a musical book club!), the inaugural VSO at Higher Ground concert which will feature talented indie/folk/rock artists from the area, and the first event of the season, Brubeck for Two on September 21 at the Flynn Center for Performing Artists in Burlington. The latter is a jazzy concerto featuring husband and wife duo Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson. The couple will perform the song, “Pars de Deux,” which was written by Chris Brubeck for Laredo and Robinson. Attendees will also be treated to “Dances of Galánta” by Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály, which reflects on the market-town where he spent much of his childhood, and Johannes Brahms’ lakeside-inspired second symphony.

You can check out the VSO’s website for a detailed list of events, general information, and fundraising opportunities.

Come out and support America’s first state-sponsored orchestra, and America’s most dedicated musicians!
