Mayor Weinberger Proclaims 'Make Music Day' in Burlington!

Mayor Weinberger proclaims June 21, 2019 to be “Make Music Day’ in Burlington, Vermont! Here’s the proclamation:

“Whereas, throughout the world music is celebrated with joy on June 21 each year during Make Music Day, a tradition that began in France in 1982 as Fête De La Musique; and

Whereas, The arts-loving citizens of more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries freely share the making of music with others in their neighborhoods, parks, and public places on this date; and

Whereas, the residents of Burlington are arts-loving and arts-makers of music of all kinds, reflecting their diversity of background and spirit; and

Whereas the City of Burlington and volunteers of Big Heavy World encourage all people to boldy find creative expression and grow into a stronger community by sharing it; and

Whereas music is an essential human experience that Burlington is better for having, and for having a lot of; and

Whereas on June 21 in Burlington live music by the residents of Burlington will ring out across the commons at the Fletcher Free Library, Church Street Marketplace, Burlington City Arts, and more;

Now therefore, be it resolved that I, Miro Weinberger, Mayor of the City of Burlington, do hereby proclaim June 21, 2019

MAKE MUSIC DAY

in the City of Burlington and that I ask all to join me in commending the musical artists of Burlington for their contributions to the quality of our lives and the warmth of their creative fire.
