Highlight: Nightshade on New Years
Nightshade on New Years presents a multicultural experience with pan-African tunes and tastes. With this event, you can expect to enjoy a night listening to Mauritian artist, Daby Touré, in combination with supporting artists, while munching on immersive and enticing foods from emerging Burlington chefs. Nightshade on New Years will be a fantastic chance to rejoice in the multicultural crossroads that we call Burlington, Vermont.
Born in Mauritania, raised in Senegal, having spent 25 years in Paris, and new resident to Montreal, Daby Touré has certainly experienced change. However, despite all the moves, Touré´s roots are still grounded in African Folk tradition, although he’s picked up a few fresh influences along the way. Touré draws inspiration from African folk melodies, while simultaneously dipping his feet into the likes of desert blues, jazz, pop, soul, reggae, and funk. Due to this wide musical spread, Touré's songs are as likely to appeal to fans of African stars Habib Koité and Youssou N'Dour as they are to followers of Bob Marley, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder. Whether performing solo or with others, Touré’s sound never ceases to blow away audiences with his striking voice and masterful guitar work.
The event will occur in the last hours of the year, from 7-10pm in the upstairs rooms of the BCA Center. It will be a great start to the final night of 2019. Come for the music, stay for the food, and leave happy having gotten a taste of both!
This Bright Ideas Project event was crowdsourced from Vermonters, and generously powered by VSECU.
