Sector Mash: Where Innovators in Technology Meet Innovators in Art
A kickoff event for BTV Ignite’s Innovation Week! October 15, 2018, 5pm-9pm at Generator, 40 Sears Lane, Burlington. FREE and All-Ages.
Big Heavy World, Code for BTV, and UVM's Office of the Vice President for Research present a night of discovery and networking, bringing Vermont’s tech and arts communities together to learn about resources, technologies that spark the arts, and each other! Artists, technologists, and entrepreneurs: Come for demos introducing artists to new technologies and creative outlets; lightning talks from organizations that support creativity and innovation; and a mixer with live music at The South End Arts & Innovation District’s cultural headquarters! The event kicks-off Innovation Week, a city-wide celebration of technology and innovation presented by BTV ignite.
Dr. Richard Galbraith, Vice President for Research at UVM, said of Sector Mash, “Our goal in sponsoring this unique event is to foster and encourage the use of cutting edge technology to inform and augment art in all its forms.”
James Lockridge, a co-Captain of Code for BTV, Vermont’s Code for America brigade of Civic Technologists, said, “Call it multi-sector social capital building, or call it a party! The artists and innovators of our region know that building personal and institutional bridges is how we’ll get to the best future possible. Sector Mash is an opportunity to meet friends, discover resources and strengthen our community’s innovative spirit.”

Experience new technologies and generate your own ideas for how to apply them in your creative work or business! Featuring virtual reality and other demonstrations curated by Community of Opportunity participants. Light fare/hors d’oeuvres served.
Community of Opportunity: Lightning talks from resources for innovators 6pm-7:30pm
Organizations describe the resources they offer to inspire and empower our innovation community, in three minutes or less! Artists, inventors, technologists, makers and entrepreneurs will learn about resources that help you achieve your unique vision. Cash bar. Presenters include BTV Ignite, Code for BTV, Fresh Tracks’ Road Pitch, UVM Vice President for Research Office, the Vermont Creative Network, and more.
Meetup of Meetups 7:30pm-9pm
Community of Opportunity becomes a social networking opportunity of historic proportions, with technology, arts and entrepreneur meetups from throughout the region gathering to make connections and enjoy the company of their lively creative and business community. Cash bar (ID required).
