BURLINGTON October 10, 2017 — A free drop-in photo portrait opportunity is available to Vermont-based musicians and friends of VT-made music on Saturday, November 11, 7pm-10pm at Big Heavy World headquarters, 404 Pine Street, Burlington, inside the SEABA Center. Artists of all ages are welcome and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
Photographer Monika Rivard will be shooting bands, solo musicians, and fans against a black backdrop, gathering a collection of fun — or serious — photos for social media as a 2017 ‘yearbook’ of Vermont’s music community. Bands who could use an update or alternative to their official promotional portraits can use the opportunity to grab one! Monika’s work can be found at https://www.monikarivard.com.
The yearbook photo session is part of the Winter Music Summit, a program of film, musician panels, live music showcases and special events that bring Vermont’s musicians together to strengthen their community and build resources that support their success as artists. Other programming presented inside Big Heavy World headquarters during the photo session include a virtual reality experience of live concert footage from the ‘final’ show at 242 Main, viewed in 360-degrees with an HTC VIVE VR headset; volunteer crew members will be recording station IDs with musicians for 105.9FM The Radiator; and crew will be helping artists be sure they’re in Big Heavy World’s online artist directory and Vermont Music Archive collection of recordings.
The Summit is made possible by collaborators Arts Riot and Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center with support from Advance Music, the Burlington City Arts Community Fund, and the Vermont Women’s Fund. More information about the Winter Music Summit can be found at bigheavyworld.com.
Big Heavy World is an independent, volunteer-run music office that promotes and archives the music of Vermont, building community among musicians and reflecting Vermont’s diverse musical talent to the world.
