I just got back from my local music radio show on internet only Wbkm Dot Org. I highlighted a lot of what is happening in our town and some of the bands that come through. There was a bit of a story rainy theme.

Song before: (Then Came The) Last Of May (live) – Blue Oyster Cult

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds of Burlington. It’s a beautiful night in Burlington but it has been a bit rainy and stormy in the past few days. This is the last show I’ll do this month so I have to start with this song. This is Last Day Of May by The Red Telephone on WBKM and this is Burlington’s Kind of Music.

1.) Last Day Of May – The Red Telephone 2.) Storm Cloud – When Particles Collide 3.) Miranda – Ninja Custodian 4.) Cats Were Born – And The Kids

Killer song from their new album. They are playing The Monkey House tomorrow. Killer classic Ninja song. Particles just released a new EP called This Town about life in Bangor Maine. It’s pretty cool. This next band are playing at the Monkey tomorrow too.

5.) Magenta Man – Rue Mevlana 6.) Exit Strategy – Rue Mevlana 7.) Futuis Eam – Vows 8.) Unveiled – Pours

I’ve caught Pours a couple of times and they are pretty cool. Vows are from NJ but have played town a couple of times and are coming back soon. That’s from their new album. I love the dramatic sweep to Rue’s songs. Let’s continue on through Swale’s album The Next Instead.

9.) Edible #2 – Swale 10.) The Same Stars – Zola Turn 11.) Oh My God – Sarah Blacker 12.) Beats Me – Satori Bob

Happy Birthday John Baumann! Great song from Sarah’s new album. Considering the imagery in the song, I had to pair it up with the Zola song. She played a killer show last Friday at The Skinny Pancake. I think I’m going to head there tomorrow to see this next artist, who has been playing there all month.

13.) Canadian Cowboy – Arc Iris 14.) Avalon – Split Tongue Crow 15.) Oh Freedom – U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and 30 Vermont musicians

Bernie had a killer kickoff rally for his Presidential run at the waterfront in Burlington Tuesday. I had to work but was inspired by watching the speech on C-Span. Run Bernie Run. Killer song from Rutland’s finest. I’m very excited to catch Iris. This next band are playing Saturday at the Monkey House.

16.) Running Away From Home – The Snaz 17.) Ninjas VS Zombies – Phil Yates 18.) The Original Original – Black Rabbit 19.) Iron And Metal – The Mountain Says No

Killer song from Mountain’s coming soon album. Same for Rabbit. Great song from Phil. After seeing Sarah at the Pancake last Friday I ran over to Radio Bean and caught this band play a killer show.

20.) Not A Nice Guy – ROUGH FRANCIS 21.) Projector – Vetica 22.) Forbidden Love – Pinhead 23.) These Stories – When Particles Collide

Another great new song from Particles. That one had me dancing around the studio. Killer classic Pinhead song. I miss Vetica. I try to never miss Francis. It’s been raining on and off a bunch today. This seemed appropriate.

24.) Way Like Water – Sarah Blacker 25.) Nothing But The Water I & II – Grace Potter 26.) Jan Michael Vincent – Chin Ho

I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
