intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds of Burlington. It’s a beautiful night in Burlington I went 20 days without seeing any live music, due to an odd series of unfortunate circumstances, but finally made it out to Radio Bean last Monday to see The Nancy Druids. They are very new so I don’t have any of their music, but if you listen to the first two songs, you can get an idea. This is Today Is Tomorrow by The Red Telephone on WBKM, and this is Burlington’s Kind Of Music.
1.)Today Is Tomorrow – The Red Telephone 2.) Still Life Scene – Envy 3.) Restaurant – The Mountain Says No 4.) Original Original – Black Rabbit
Great new song from Rabbit! They got the mighty Jane Boxall Percussion to play drums on their new album and recorded 11 songs. It will be called Red Flannel Hash and should come out on June 23rd. I’m so psyched, though I”m quite sad that Jane has left for Nashville. Come back any time!! We’ll miss you. Killer new song from Mountain. I can’t wait until they release their album! Did I mention that I loved the Nancy Druids and can’t wait to get to know their songs!. OK, let’s keep rocking through the Swale album The Next Instead.
5.) Jack Sharp – Swale 6.) Burn It Down Bernadette – Phil Yates & The Affiliates 7.) Fades To Grey – Aram Bedrosian 8.) Breakout – Sarah Blacker
Killer new song from Sarah’s album In Waves which came out Monday or Tuesday or so. She will be at the Skinny Pancake tomorrow at 7. I work until 7 but will head down as quick as I can to see how much I can see. There are some really nice songs on her new album and she sings the heck out of them! Killer new all bass only song from Aram. Love the Phil song. So, I think I want to head to the Pancake tomorrow to see Sarah then will head back to the Bean to see Rough Francis! How cool is that.
9.) MSP2 – ROUGH FRANCIS 10.) Sugar Coated Candy Stix – Dino Bravo VT 11.) Womb With A View – Heavy Plains 12.) Where Is My Mind? – The Pixies
The Pixies are in town tonight at The Flynn Theatre. I think almost everyone I know is going, but I’m here to do this show for you. Plains are on the top of my list of bands I have not seen that I really need to check out! The played Saturday with Vedora, but it was one of those bad timing missing shows things. Soon. Dino are playing at Metronome around 10:30 so I may head over after this show. OK, I’m going to play some classic old school Burlington music, but to take us there, this is the Vacant Lots.
13.) 6Am – THE VACANT LOTS 14.) Amazon – Kilimanjaro 15.) South Wind – Gordon Stone 16.) Hot Water – Pine Island
Since Pine Island are named in my intro it’s about time I played them. Nice song from Gordon. I remember seeing Kilimanjaro a long time ago and loving how smooth and elegant that they always were. I saw this guy recently when he opened for April Wine a couple of times at Higher Ground.
17.) Axe To Grind – Nobby Reed 18.) Another Round – The Eames Brothers 19.) Gothic Bloodsucker – Zola Turn 20.) Giant Mosquitoes – Cold Sweat
Sweat used to play Texas, which became Club Toast, KD Churchills, and others. I think it’s the Zen Lounge now and I think they do music again. It’s the beginning of mosquito season so I had to play the sweat song and the Zola song. Killer stuff by Nobby and Eames. Here’s another song from Sarah’s new album
21.) This Melody – Sarah Blacker 22.) Better Half – Abbie Morin 23.) The Cure (live) – Thompson Gunner 24.) Decide – David L. Jarvis
It was great to run into Dave at the Druids show. Thanks for the painting! Killer song from the Rutland band. Abbie will be at Nectar’s on Saturday. Hmmm, Sarah. This band just played a show that I missed on Saturday and will have a new album of songs, with Jane Boxall drumming, soon. Sob, we’ll miss you Jane!
25.) Low Down M2 – Vedora 26.) Deadly Wires – Ryan Ober 27.) Wisps and Watercolors – Sarah Blacker 28.) Extended Werewolf – farm
There’s only so much time indeed/ Yet another killer new Sarah song. Ryan is at Nectar’s on Saturday too. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
