just got back from from doing my local music radio show on internet only Wbkm Dot Org. Considering how I placed the songs tonight I likely should have used The Old And They Young by MIDLAKE BAND as the song before, but considering the past couple of days, I had to use Flood of Sunshine.

Song before: Flood Of Sunshine – The Posies

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds of Burlington. It’s a warm night and the last couple of days have felt like we just had spring for a few days, and now it feels like summer. This is Sarah Blacker on WBKM, and this is Burlington’s Kind of Music.

1.) These Summer Nights – Sarah Blacker 2.) All The Kids – The New Siberians 3.) Our Work Is Never Done – PossumHaw 4.) The North – Hana Zara

I love the reference to the painted buildings in Burlington’s Old North End in that song. Great song from PossumHaw! That’s a super brand new song from Siberians. I’ve got the windows open and it feels like a warm summer night. This next artist used to be mayor of Burlington and now he’s running for President.

5.) We Shall Overcome – U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and thirty Vermont artists 6.) Destiny Waits – Bud & Budd ~ The Kind Buds 7.) Sweet Angel – Robert Gagnon

Lovely song by Bob! Bud and Budd are such excellent guitar players. If you like the guitar, make sure you check them out sometime. Speaking of great guitar players you really should check out.

8.) New Atlantis – Aaron Flinn 9.) At The Diner – Zoot Wilson 10.) Evel Kinevel – Guppyboy 11.) Rocketsled’s Funky Main Man Meets Big Joe On Church Street – Phish & Richard Haupt.

Richard showed a lot of heart playing the clarinet on Church Street every day for years. It’s cool that Phish backed him up on that. Nice cover of the Chainsaws Of Babylon by Guppy. It almost had a Legend Of A Mind sweep to it. Killer song by Zoot. Aaron is playing at Radio Bean Tuesday at nine, if you want to check him out, and you really should if you can. So, speaking of Big Joe.

12.) Every Time I Hear That Mellow Saxophone – Big Joe Burrell & The Unknown Blues Band 13.) Sunflower Street – David L. Jarvis 14.) By My Side – Kat Wright & The Indomitable Soul Band 15.) Glory Bound – Maryse Smith

Yet another great song from Maryse’s new album The Way It Is. Kat and the band are just so good. It’s not quite sunflower time yet, but there are tons of flowers blooming around town. Here is another cool new song.

16.) The Endless War – Jeremy Gilchrist 17.) Double Dare Ya – Steph Pappas 18.) Somebody Up There Loves Me – The Starline Rhythm Boys 19.) 40 Days – Better Things

BT are playing lots of shows and writing lots of music and are really good. Rhythm Boys have been playing around for years and are still going strong. Steph’s been making music in our town for a long time too. Let’s continue on through Swale’s album The Next Instead.

20.) Popular Crowd – Swale 21.) That’s That Is Is – Ninja Custodian 22.) Bullet – REDadmiral 23.) Yours Sincerely – Persian Claws 24.) Be A Good Citizen (NYC Mix) – Pinhead

Classic song with lots of good advice. The Claws are always fun! I’ve got to put in the effort to catch Admiral sometime soon. Classic from Ninja. This next artist has played tons of great shows for years and is getting a lifetime achievement award at Nectar’s tomorrow. It is extremely well deserved.

25.) Nighttime Fades – Seth Yacovone Band 26.) Film Called Life – Jer Coons 27.) How It Goes – Blue Button 28.) Little French Earthquakes – Phil Yates & The Affiliates

I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town, let’s do it again next week, shall we?
