I just got back from my local music radio show on internet only Wbkm Dot Org. I played a lot of bands from town and some that have come here to play.

Song before: Running Up That Hill – Kate Bush

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds of Burlington. The nights have been cool and some of the leaves are starting to turn, but the days have been hazy, lazy, sunny and warm. It always makes me think of this song. This is the next song from Ninja Jane on WBKM, and this is Burlington’s Kind Of Music.

1.) Curveball Dreamer – Zola Turn 2.) This Is Our Good Night – Aya Inoue 3.) Salvation and Sin – Satori Bob 4.) Big Enough – Anachronist

I loved seeing them at Waking Windows this year and wanted to pull out another of their great songs. Great song from John Baumann and Robert Gagnon. I wanted to play the Aya song because I read she was not feeling well. Let’s all think good healing thoughts for her and Sonja Clawson and everyone else who’s not feeling so well. The Zola song always makes me think of Baseball games in the summer sun. Up next is a band who just played a library and released a new EP.

5.) 40 Days – Better Things 6.) Always Monica -> Down At The Duck – Chin Ho! 7.) Grounded – Invisible Jet

Great song from the ’90’s. I think Ryan Ober is playing tomorrow at Radio Bean, though he sounds a bit different now. Great stuff from Chin Ho!, another classic Burlington band. Let’s keep the groove going with Raq.

8.) WalkingInCircles – Raq 9.) Star – The New Siberians 10.) Mirror Mirror – Joe Adler & The Rangers Of Danger

That was live from Nectar’s. His new album just came out today but I don’t have a copy yet. Expect a lot of it next week. He officially releases it next Saturday at Nectar’s. Great song by the Siberians. Next is a band I should have gone to see last Tuesday at The Monkey House. I think I would have really liked them!

11.) Mush – Phantom Suns 12.) Imaginary – Envy 13.) Mine All Mine – Cave Bees 14.) Rejected – Black Rabbit

I’m psyched for September 12 when Rabbit and the Bees rock the Monkey House!!! I love the way new music, like Phantom mixes with ’90’s music like Envy, so effortlessly. Here’s a new classic Burlington band.

15.) How It Goes – Blue Button 16.) Finally Found The One – When Particles Collide 17.) Trading Bullets – Fire The Cannons 18.) Ipso Facto – Tesla’s Revenge

It was so great to see them at the library. I hope they come back to town soon. At one point in the 2000’s I was looking for a new rock band to love. Cannons came on the scene and played some killer shows! I felt like playing a Particles song and that one just jumped into my head. Up next is another band who played the library, they’re from Rutland.

19.) Sad One Out – SADG’s 20.) Northern Memory – The Cush 21.) Voodoo Camaro – Wide Wail 22.) Crazy Hearse – Barbacoa

Not to be confused with Crazyhearse, Barbacoa’s song is two words. Great song from WW. Northern is the first song I remember from when the Cush moved back to Texas, then came back to town to play their new album. Speaking of Texas, this next guy never came to town and it’s not music, but this is Burlington’s Kind Of Attitude.

23.) It’s Just A Ride – Bill Hicks (AMERICAN The Bill Hicks Story) 24.) Purpose And Object – The Contrarian 25.) Above My Ground – Landlady

I loved the day Landlady played at Signal Kitchen and that was what Burlington sounded like at that moment. Anyone want to bring them back to town? Many times? Contrairan is Casey Ronin Rae who guided me to a lot of great music when he wrote the music column for Seven Days so many years ago. Love his songs too! I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
