I just got back from my 53rd local music radio show on internet only WBKM.ORG. Per a conversation with my parents & brother, and a request from Eric, I opened with some older songs.

Song before: Amber Waves – Tori Amos

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I’ve been playing a lot of new music lately, so let’s play some classics. This is Every Time I Hear That Mellow Saxophone by Big Joe Burrell on WBKM, and this is Burlington’s Kind Of Music.

1.) Every Time I Hear That Mellow Saxophone – Big Joe Burrell and the Unknown Blues Band 2.) Mystery Blues – Zoot Wilson 3.) Walkingincircles – Raq

I love that song by Raq, it always makes me happy, and after 12+ inches of snow that we got yesterday, something happy is nice. Zoot goes out to Eric, and yesterday my family got together for Dad’s birthday. We talked about Hunts and the statue of Joe, so I wanted to play that song. I’m playing older songs tonight. This goes back a couple of years.

4.) Wait For Me – Anais Mitchell 5.) In Comes The Tide – PossumHaw 6.) Good Thing – Maryse Smith 7.) Catskills – Alpenglow

Alpenglow have a great new video for that song. I love the trend of bands using the spectacular views in Vermont for the background for their videos. Maryse was great at Signal Kitchen a couple of weeks ago. Her voice is so strong and poised. I’m starting to dig deeper into the Possumhaw album and I like it. Great song from Anais. Well, last week I finished off Maximum Soul Power, so now it’s time to start a new album. There are a lot of great albums that are about to be released but are not out yet. I’m going classic and will play Dancing With the Big Guy from Ninja Custodian all the way through over the next few weeks. Here we go.

8.) Rock And Roll Is My Weapon – Ninja Custodian 9.) Ego – When Particles Collide 10.) Trans Am – Barbacoa 11.) Good Citizen (NYC Mix) – Pinhead

Pinhead are classic Burlington. Barbacoa are always fun. Particles have a new album coming soon. Great song from Ninja. This next band have a new album coming soon and are at Nectar’s on Tuesday. There is a lot of snow out there, but I’m starting to thing of planting seeds.

12.) The Seed – Elephants of Scotland

I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
