I just got back from my local music internet only radio show on WBKM.ORG. I started with some songs that make me soar and played lots of music from bands playing this weekend. I also tossed in a live Pinhead song.

Song before – Immigrant Song – Led Zeppelin

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. Burlington is covered in snow and ice and glistening with beauty. My heart is soaring and I want to play some music to soar to. Will you come soar with me? This is a new song from Paper Castleson WBKM, and this is Burlington’s kind of music.

1.) HelloH – Paper Castles 2.) The Words Will Show – Lendway 3.) I Don’t Know What To Believe – The Red Telephone 4.) Telepathic Headdress – The Cush

Love soaring to the Cush and Red Telephone. The Lendway song reminds me a bit of Obscured By Clouds and I can’t wait until Sunday to see Matthew Bryan Hagenplay Floyd with Dark Side Of The Mountain. Paper Castles were brilliant opening up for Stars at Higher Ground earlier this year. It’s cold and icy and snowy so I was looking for a cold song to play. This next singer is playing early on New Year’s Eve. I may try and catch her set at Radio Bean, then head to see Vedora at The Monkey House.

5.) Lithuania – Hana Zara 6.) Dogs At The Door – Milton Busker 7.) ComeTooLate – Paper Castles

I just bought the Paper Castles album Vague Era today and wanted to play a few songs for you. Padraic Reagan has played in town a lot, booked lots of bands in town and is an all around good guy. Milton is playing the Bean tomorrow at 7. If I get out of work in time, I may try and check his show out. Hana is a very talented lady. Speaking of talented ladies, it’s time to play the next song of Alice Austin‘s To A Star In The Yard. This is the big rocker.

8.) Vicarious – Alice Austin 9.) I Made Love To The Dead – Pinhead

That was Pinhead live from Hunts from a long time ago. That had not been released, but my friend Christopher Larrow kept asking them for it, got a copy, gave me a copy, and now I get to play it for you. When Alice released the album, she formed a band and played it all the way through at the Monkey House. Vicarious was moved to the last slot, instead of 10th on the album, because they rocked it so hard. Sean Toohey (on guitar that night) said it should be the closer. To add more music to the weekend The Monkey House turns 7 on Saturday and features lots of great bands like Dino Bravo VTBlue ButtonBlack Rabbit, Eastern Mountain Time, Phil Yates, Paper Castles, Wolvings, and maybe more. Here is some of what is to come.

10.) Could You Be The One? – Phil Yates and the Affiliates 11.) Mark My Words – Black Rabbit 12.) Vestibule – Blue Button 13.) Cold – Wolvings 14.) Terrarium – Vedora

Vedora might be the last band I see in 2013 or the first in 2014, depending on when they go on. I’m so psyched to see those four bands on Saturday, and all the others too! On a sad note, Burlington lost one of our own this week when DJ A-Dog, Andy Williams passed away. He was well known and liked in our town and will be dearly missed. Enjoy every moment you can, you never know. I hope you enjoyed checking out my last show of 2013. See you in 2014 for more great music from our town.
