I just got back from local music internet radio show number 40 on WBKM.ORG.  It’s feeling like I’ve got the hang of this thing.

Song before: Hasn’t Hit Me Yet – Blue Rodeo

promo

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington.  It’s a cold night in Burlington with an even colder wind.  It’s almost Christmas and here is a seasonally appropriate song from last year.

1.) Oh Holy Night – Electric Halo 2.) Beach Song – Ray Fork 3.) These Summer Nights – Sarah Emily Blacker

Sometimes when it’s cold out it’s fun to imagine joyous summer nights with great singer songwriters, and hanging out at the beach.  Electric Halo are cool and Johnnie Day Durand makes the saw sing, even if it is an instrumental.  Next up is the next song from Alice Austin’s To A Star In The Yard.  I’m taking the long way to show you how this album came about.

4.) Tastes Like Nothing – Zola Turn 5.) Dragged Around The Universe – Queen Tangerine 6.) Void – The Lavas 7.) Sharp Side Of The Knife – Alice Austin

Words can never truly describe music.  I though by playing a song from her previous four bands that it would let your ears hear her growth.  I’ve been slacking about going out to see music but did see Pink Floyd cover band Dark Side Of The Mountain for the last two Wednesdays.  This next set is some of the people who played last night.

8.) Mr Soul – Book ‘Em Blues Band 9.) Below The Beams – Grace Potter And The Nocturnals 10.) Gunslinger – Lendway 11.) All About You – Kat Wright And The Indomitable Soul Band

Dark Side of The Mountain are a local Pink Floyd cover band who have played the last two Wednesdays at Nectar’s.  They are guitarist Bob Wagner, bassist Josh Weinstein keyboardist Dan Munzing, and Matt Burr on drums.  Bob plays guitar and sings with Book ‘Em.  Matt plays drums with Grace, and that song sounds a bit Floydy.  Josh plays with the Indomitable Soul Band.  They were joined by Matthew Bryan Hagen from Lendway, and Kat Wright sang Money, Us And Them, Brain Damage, Eclipse and Have A Cigar.  It was a great night of music.  Burlington also has prog bands.

12.) Full Power – Elephants of Scotland 13.) Mary – Plan B

Plan B played it in the ’90’s and Elephants are doing it now, and are working on a new album.  I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town.  Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Something misfired and the promo and outro were lost in a squeal for 30 seconds or so.

Sorry about that.  Tim still here to tell you about the next song.  It’s about looking at yourself from inside and objectively and noticing the other side of you.  This is a song by Fish, and even though he’s from Scotland, this is Burlington’s Kind Of Music.

Song after: The Other Side Of Me – Fish
