intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I had a great time at Radio Bean‘s birthday party Saturday. I saw a ton of great music. I want to thank everyone who put it on, especially Joe Adler. He and the Rangers Of Danger played a great version of this song. This is The Mime on WBKM, and this is Burlington’s kind of music.

1.) The Mime – Joe Adler and The Rangers Of Danger 2.) Mississippi River – The Dwellers 3.) Catskills – Alpenglow

I’ve enjoyed seeing Alpenglow a couple of times this summer. That song reminds me of driving through the mountains of New York, just across the lake from Burlington. Gabrielle Douglas used to play Mississippi all the time. It would be great to have her come back and play it again for us. Next up, let’s play the next song on Alice Austin‘s To A Star In The Yard. Having a degree in economics and or personal relationships will help you with this song.

4.) Laissez Faire – Alice Austin 5.) Good Thing – Maryse Smith 6.) This Is Our Good Night – Aya Inoue 7.) Science Fiction – Hana Zara

Hana just won the Advance music singer songwriter competition. Word has it that she really impressed some people with that song. Aya sang some soaring vocals on a song in Dripline’s set at the Bean birthday bash. I’ve seen her occasionally, over a few years, and am always happy when she’s on the bill, because I’ve always had a good time when she plays. Maryse had a good set at the Bean, though it was buried by talking and coffee drinks. She persevered like a champ and played a sweet version of Good Thing when the audience quieted down. Swale had a great set at the Bean, and played a killer show the night before Halloween. They opened with this:

8.) Armadillo – Swale 9.) High On A Good Day – Chuch 10.) If The Sea Won’t Rise – Sean Altrui

It was fun checking out Sean’s album for Halloween. I liked this song so much I wanted to play it today. Chuch have been around for a while and that’s a pretty cool song. Swale will be part of the Lou Reed tribute night at The Monkey House on Saturday. It will be fun. OK, time to rock. Here is a brand new song from Black Rabbit.

11.) Mark My Words – Black Rabbit 12.) Golden Goose – Cave Bees 13.) Planning My Funeral – Poxy 14.) Projector – Vetica

Per Andrew from Vetica, they have broken up. Rats! Hopefully they will put something new together. Per Facebook, Poxy are no more. Rats! I hope they put something new together too. The Cave Bees just played a killer set at the Bean. They are probably heading to Texas soon, maybe we’ll get lucky and they play another show before they go. Black Rabbit singing about JFK. Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
