Radio Show 23 Thursday August 1, 2013 9-10pm Eastern US Time WBKM.ORG
Words by Tim Lewis.
I just got back from radio show 23 on WBKM.ORG. With the cool rainy weather, I was a little mellower than sometimes, but the show rocked. I played some of the music I bought at the Precipice.
Song Before: Afterglow – Genesis (live)

Intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I want to thank Sarah Grant and Lee Anderson and everyone else who made The Precipice a great show. Special props to Joe Adler for helping make it happen. This song is dedicated everyone who loves their brother or sister, and especially to my brother Ken.
1.) Brothers and Sisters – Joe Adler and the Rangers of Danger
2.) Carry That Load – Anna Padernik and Her Apologies
3.) Soul Piggy Bank – Swale
That was the second song on Swale’s album A Small Arrival. Next week we will get to song three. I talked about not making enough money to get by, and how that relates to most VT musicians. Talked about feeling torn about leaving Swale at the Precipice, to see Anna. But, Anna’s voice is great and I love her solo songs I bought her CD at the show. Before that was Johnnie Day Durand playing the saw with Joe and the Rangers. Happy Birthday yesterday. Another cool show was Jane Boxall Allen playing a set on marimba. She had some guests, including Raph Worrick who sang this song as she played.
4.) Let’s Complain – Ray Fork
5.) Pyramid – Jane Boxall
6.) Afterlife – Hana Zara
Talked about loving the crystal clear stories Hana sang at the show. I bought a disc and read that this song is from when she was living in Nebraska and had just made the decision to move back to Burlington, and the song was about the space between the decision and the change. Jane sang great, played great, and was a wonderful front woman. She also played with Steady Betty. Caroline O’Connor played with Steady Betty too. Her band, Vedora tore it up on Saturday.
7.) Terrarium – Vedora
8.) Linea – Vetica
9.) While Egypt Was Burning – Doll Fight!
Yea! Brand new Doll Fight! This is a cool song about Americans reaction to the Arab Spring. They did not play the Precipice, but their singer/guitar player Christine Mathias played sax with Steady Betty. Vetica really rocked on Sunday. Some people sat for the show but I could not. Vedora was fantastic, and it was great to see them again. We have a cool local weekly magazine called Seven Days. Many of the people who work there, play in bands. I can’t play any Monoprix, with drummer Steve Hadeka, since there is none recorded, per Daniel Bolles, but I can play three others. The first is a band that had the audience dancing so hard, the ground was a bit more level on Saturday.
10.) Bob Bannon – The Skamaphrodites
11.) Hallelujah – The Dirty Blondes
12.) Come To Space – Rough Francis
Bobby Hackney jr plays in Rough Francis, Diane Sullivan plays in the Dirty Blondes (and is fit enough to do onstage pushups), and Dan Bolles sang for the Skamaphrodites. All three work for 7 Days. I hope you enjoyed checking out the very current music of our town, let’s do it again next week, shall we?
