A Little Lendway Monday June 15, 2009 At Red Square
Words by Tim Lewis.
After a long weekend I really did not want to go out on a Monday. And yet, with Lendway playing, I knew if I did not I would end up on the couch wondering how it was. I put in some effort and decided to go for one set.
I arrived just about 9 and they were set up and just about ready to go. I got a beer and then it was show time. The first couple of songs were off a bit, as they sorted out the sound . But after a bit, it became the Lendway that we know and love. Their smooth elegant pop is balanced with some rock and roll power. Listening to Lendway is a nice place to be.
They mixed a few new songs in with several off the Low Red End. Old Mexico sounded nice and the new ones I don’t know the titles of, sounded even better. I can’t wait for their next ep and album.
They wrapped up the first set about 10pm so I said my goodbyes and headed for home. I knew it would be a long week ahead and managed to get in a pretty good night’s sleep. I love how easy it can be to pop out and catch a set by a cool band.
