Big Heavy Crew Guyz Win 'Young Tradition' Prize

Colin Doherty & Dylan Hudson took home the First Place prize at Waterfront Park today - chosen by the audience. Colin manages the music industry directories on the new Big Heavy World web site (launching in July) and Dylan is the assistant local music director at WOMM-LP 105.9FM 'The Radiator' here at Big Heavy World. The Young Tradition concert was a presentation of Events for Tom and Burlington Parks and Recreation. Colin & Dylan are in Pale Fire, with band mate Duncan Yandell; a Williston-based ‘alt-Celtic’band. They mix traditional Cape Breton fiddling with alternative acoustic rock. The band arose from jam and songwriting sessions between musicians Duncan Yandell (fiddle), Dylan Hudson (guitar/mandolin), and Colin Doherty (bass). They were awarded 2nd place in the Burlington First Night Talent Showcase for their song ‘Death of the Hired Man’, and have since recorded a demo CD of original and Celtic songs.
