Maybe you should look at the sovtek mig100 that is in the wanted post? I am selling it for 250, the high channel self oscillates and the guy I play music with has said the input just needs re-wiring. I think 250$ is a fair price as long as the work that needs to be done is not too crazy and I certainly don't want to sell him something that's ""un-fixable"" or will cost more then he will want to pay. The low works and seems to have no issue I remember.

I'm sure I can fix that and maybe get it to sound a bit better too.
It's not going to cost $250.00. Probably just $50.

Do you want me to fix it ???

I am selling it for 250 to him (see the other topic Wanted:Sovtek). I think its a good idea to have you do it...let me see what he wants. I would rather sell it for 250$ and have someone get it fixed then fix and sell. If he doesn't want it then its up for sale for 250$ and certainly would say to go to you to get it fixed. 250$ plus around a 50$ fix would certainly be less then I got it for and would tear faces people! I will give him a couple days to see whats up.

Edit..Yea no I didnt think it would cost 250$ to fix otherwise it wouldn't be worth it.

Any idea how much it would be to re-tube my 5150?

It depends. Got the combo (60 watt version)? Or the Head?
There are 5 preamp tubes and 2 or 4 power tubes.
You can buy all these tubes online if you like and have me install and make sure all is good.
Preamp tubes don't need to be changed out if they are not noisy.
I can check the tubes and install the power tubes for you if you like.
Send me a message or call me.
Thanks!

I have the head, I believe it's the signature version. as far as I know, every tube in the amp is still stock from the factory...which means it might be about time to change them. I do get alot of hiss, which I know comes with a 5150, but I feel it might be a little much, and I also have to dial the gain up higher than I really should have to in order to get the volume I need.

Low power means you need a new set of power tubes at minimum. The other tubes may need to be tested and or juggled around for quiet operation. Yes, the 5150 is noisy.

you dudes are all really, realllllly lucky to have an amp guy as amazing as Dan. i recently took my amp to a dude in LA (whose office is this fucking place: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2004- ... t_Blvd.jpg ). after it took him 2 weeks to fix the problem, i went to pick my amp up...AND HE HAD GIVEN IT TO SOMEBODY ELSE BY ACCIDENT!! so now i'm "waiting till monday while he sorts it out".

moral of the story: dan rules. i wish i could afford to ship my amp to him to be repaired.
