NEW ALBUM BY THE FLOOD (KINDA)

Postby Patrick B. on Thu Aug 27, 2009 7:23 pm

To anyone who's interested (meaning, Mark),
I posted videos of the ten songs that are going to comprise my newest album as "The Flood". I thought it would be cool and intimate to demo the songs on camera, replete with all the bum notes and shyness that the album will (hopefully) wipe out. I included lyrics. Just click below the video to read them. They are organized backwards, so if you want the TRUE effect (I know that's a little ridiculous, considering they're youtube videos) watch it from "Caedmon's Dream" through to "Candlelight". A'ight, thanks everybody (meaning, Mark).

You forgot to include the link, Patrick.

I assume this will do?

Haven't had a chance to listen yet. And by the way, am I really the only one on this board who's given you any feedback? Come on, people!

Jesus Christ, Patrick. These songs are really good.

How are you going to arrange them? I could see adding some bass and drums to a few, like "Passionate Man," but some of them work so well with a stripped-down, minimalist arrangement that I think it would sort of be a shame to change that ("Lonely Wyoming" in particular).

When the album's done, you really need to shop it around to some appropriate indie labels.

haha
No link. Wow. Thanks for having my back.
I've got arrangements written for all of them. Some will remain stripped down (the whole world's gone, sleeping with demons), some will be big and tasty (caedmon's dream, passionate man, and the grand finale in Mary Jane of the sacred heart).
In terms of what I'm gonna do with it... ? Don't really know. I know that I have to get them recorded, because my internal alarm is going off and saying "Put them on wax before you're bored with them", but I haven't thought about it any further. I will certainly keep you posted on whatever happens with them. I live in VT again, as well, cuz I couldn't find a job in New Hampshire and the Rebels are only playing scattered shows until late December. So I'll let you know if I'm ever doing anything in Burlington. Maybe we could set something up. A'ight, peace.

You should look into playing some shows at places like the Radio Bean (despite the hippies and Bolsheviks) or wherever. Let me know if you need a bass player.
